The police have detained 13 people suspected of setting fire to the headquarters of an APC group in Kano.
The offenders were caught with hazardous weapons while vandalizing the premises, according to Abdullahi Kiyawa, the police spokesperson in Kano.
According to a source, protestors suspected of being against the APC party set fire to a structure on Maiduguri Road in Kano's capital, in the Tarauni Local Government Area.
The structure hosted the headquarters of an APC group led by Ibrahim Shekarau, the former governor of Kano. Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has a competing faction dedicated to him.
Mr Kiyawa said that the state's police commissioner, Sama'ila Dikko, dispatched a squad from Operation Puff Adder to restore order and apprehend the perpetrators.
He stated that the 13 suspected thugs (Yan Daba) were apprehended and deadly exhibits were confiscated from them.
Normalcy was quickly restored, according to Mr. Kiyawa, and an inquiry had begun. He stated that the suspects will be prosecuted.
"Criminals will have no hiding spot in Kano State, according to the Commissioner of Police." They have the option of repenting or leaving the state entirely. They will be arrested and subjected to the full force of the law if they do not comply.
"He praised Kano State's excellent people for their prayers, encouragement, unwavering support, and collaboration," he said. He advised locals to pray for the state and the country, and to report any incidents to the nearest police station rather than attempting to make laws themselves.
"Rigid patrols and raids on criminal hideouts and black spots will continue across the state as the Command continues its ongoing "Operation Puff Adder," according to the command.
The Command may be reached at 08032419754, 08123821575, or 08076091271 in case of an emergency, according to a police official.
