Following the kidnapping of several of their colleagues on their route to their orientation camp in Zamfara State's Tsafe Local Government Area, panic has gripped prospective corps members.

Despite the fact that police confirmed the kidnapping of two potential corps members along the Sheme-Tsafe route in the state on Tuesday, witnesses stated about six more were missing.

In Zamfara, the Tsafe is hosting an orientation camp.

The abducted corps members and other victims are being rescued as part of a coordinated search and rescue effort, according to the police.

In a statement, the state's police spokesperson, Muhammad Shehu, said the state's police commissioner, Ayuba Elkana, had visited the camp and assured NYSC authorities of the safety of corps members there.

Two (2) prospective NYSC Corp Members deployed from Benue State to Kebbi and Sokoto States were among the victims of abduction along Tsafe – Gusau Road on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at about 2230 hours, according to a report received by the Zamfara State Police Command from the State NYSC Coordinator.

The report was obtained early today when the Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba N. Elkanah psc+, visited the Tsafe Orientation Camp to inspect the existing security emplacement in order to ensure the safety and security of the Corp Members.

It will be recalled that on October 19, 2021, at approximately 2230 hours, armed bandits stopped a vehicle with the registration number GBK 339 ZY on its way from Benue to Sokoto State near Wanzamai Village in Tsafe LGA. As a result, passengers with unknown identities were kidnapped.

While responding, the Commissioner of Police notified the Coordinator that the Command had begun an investigation into the incident with the goal of determining the exact number of Corp Members involved in the kidnapping.

A coordinated search and rescue operation is also underway to guarantee the safe return of Corp members and other abducted victims.

In his talk to the Prospective Corp Members, the CP tells them that there will be more police to protect their lives, and he advises them to be security vigilant.
