In Akwa Ibom, a man murders his neighbor for allegedly practicing witchcraft.

Fear has seized Inen Town in Akwa Ibom State's OrukAnam Local Government Area after a young man suspected of belonging to a cult organization murdered his neighbor and assaulted another in the same community on Monday.

Aniebet Ekpu alias United, followed by other members of his gang, reportedly pulled their victim, Udo Mfuk, from his property and killed him after tying him to a tree, according to our source.

According to a source, the suspect went in the same rage to a neighboring compound, where he assaulted the village council chairman, Uduak Okon, and stole his motorbike before departing the area.

Although the reason for his actions was unknown at the time of writing this story, one eyewitness, Ntiense Noak, informed our correspondent on Tuesday that the suspect had accused his victim of utilizing witchcraft powers to afflict his son, who had been sick for years with no remedy.

"The deceased's compound was raided by a group commanded by Aniebiet Friday Ekpu, who pulled him out, chained him to a tree, and decapitated him," Noak added.

"After murdering the guy, he went to an adjacent complex and raided residences, stealing people's phones, and robbing the village council chairman, Mr Uduak Noah, of his new ladies motorbike."
