Travel rules for fully vaccinated individuals entering in the nation have been relaxed by the federal government.
Fully vaccinated passengers would not be needed to follow the seven-day isolation regimen, but would be required to do a COVID-19 PCR test on their second day of arrival.
Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, made the announcement in a statement headlined "Release of amended foreign travel protocol into Nigeria" released on Friday.
Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated travellers, he said, would undergo the seven-day isolation as well as the COVID-19 PCR test on days two and seven following their arrival.
Mustapha, on the other hand, stated that the new protocol would go into force on October 25.
"Travellers arriving in Nigeria must submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test result obtained not more than 72 hours prior to boarding," it said in part. In-bound travelers who are unvaccinated or just partially vaccinated will be subjected to an obligatory seven-day self-isolation period, as well as a COVID-19 PCR test on days two and seven following arrival.
"Fully vaccinated inbound travellers will not be forced to adhere to the necessary seven-day isolation period, but will be asked to do a COVID-19 PCR test on their second day of arrival."
