Mr Kayode Ojo, an industrialist and leader of the All Progressives Congress, has encouraged the federal and state governments to build on their current cordial relationship to tackle the issue of VAT collection.
Instead of the current colors and screams, the industrialist believes the two levels of government should seek a middle ground and handle the contentious issue in a way that benefits the people.
On Sunday, Ojo, an APC governorship contender in the 2022 Ekiti governorship race, addressed in Iyin Ekiti in the Irepodun/Ifelodun Council area, where he urged the party leadership to act quickly to resolve the issue.
“Let us remember in the APC that we are the ruling party, therefore I don't anticipate the VAT problem to disorganize us and devolve into chaos,” he added. The committee formed by the federal government and the states should meet and discuss how they can best benefit everyone.
“The two parties should come up with the greatest solution that benefits both the federal and state governments, and I am certain that we can achieve an agreement,” he added.
He pushed for a reorganization of the country's present security architecture, claiming that the country was already in a coma and needed immediate attention in order for citizens to have faith in the government.
.
“We cannot say we want to go kilometers without fear of being kidnapped,” Ojo added, “and this proves how terrible our security system is.”
“What we need now are individuals with excellent ideologies, quality leadership, and the ability to apply their expertise to restructure the economy, maintain security, and provide relief to the people.
“To strategize on how to mobilize everyone to safeguard the streets, cities, immediate environs, and villages, all hands must be on deck. Security concerns not only the government, but all of us; everyone has a responsibility to play.”
