Aso Rock Villa
The Peoples Democratic Party National Youth Movement, a socio-political umbrella of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, claims that the fourth wave of the Coronavirus epidemic, which rocked Nigeria's Presidential Villa, is a sign of God's wrath for the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
Many presidential aides, including the Permanent Secretary in the State House, Tijani Umar; the President's aide-de-camp (ADC), Yusuf Dodo; his Chief Security Officer (CSO), Aliyu Musa; and his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, have tested positive for COVID-19 at Nigeria's seat of power.
The development of COVID-19 infections in the Aso Villa was related to the coronation of Yusuf Buhari, President Buhari's sole son, as a district head (Talban Daura) in Katsina, according to multiple sources.
In a statement issued by its National President, Amb S. A. Lukman, the PDP NYM claimed the virus's breakout at the Villa is a message to President Muhammadu Buhari's government to learn to obey the law.
"The unseen common enemy of mankind produced in China in the year 2019 has snuck its way into Nigeria's seat of power where the President dwells," the statement stated.
"According to a report by SaharaReporters, the Aso Rock is now sparse and dispersed as everyone fled for their lives. While it is not morally right to rejoice or mock the plight of fellow men, this avoidable outbreak of this deadly virus at the Presidential Villa should be blamed on President Muhammadu Buhari and his APC (All Progressives Congress)-led administration's insensitivity and abuse of the rule of law."
"Citizens were left in awe of the first family's open flagrant disobedience of the same government's rules and regulations on public gatherings, as well as the lack of moral display exhibited by the first family when Mr President Yusuf Buhari's son went and took a chieftaincy title in Daura, Katsina State, amidst the mass killing of innocent Nigerians in Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina,
"Every sane mind expected President Buhari to visit those affected areas to express condolences to the people and offer practical solutions to the alarming insecurity situation in the North and other parts of the country, but instead it was a book launch of a political associate Mr President found worthy of attending in Lagos the same week."
"As if that weren't bad enough, the President's first family went ahead and took a chieftaincy title in their hometown, complete with a huge crown, despite the NCDC's set safety guidelines of social distance and avoiding large packed public gatherings." Now that COVID-19 has been linked to the Daura chieftaincy event, Mr President should accept responsibility and apologize to the innocent people and the whole nation for what his family has caused — major health concerns in the country and national shame, respectively.
"The putative lawmaker and law implementer became lawbreaker, it's very unethical for any responsible government anywhere in the world, it's nothing but misuse of authority and privilege," says the author. As men in power who arbitrarily arrest, prosecute, and punish innocent citizens who default or break the law, they deliberately and arrogantly break the same law with the knowledge that no one can arrest, prosecute, or punish them now that God Almighty has intervened on behalf of the Nigerian people, particularly those they have unjustly punished for the same action.
"This is a warning to President Buhari and the APC-led administration to learn how to respect the law, respect Nigerian citizens and their mode of operation; no one should be seen or act above the law, and if any man in power believes he or she is above the law, the Almighty God will punish them as we have seen in this heinous case."
"While we pray for the rapid recovery of all those who have been afflicted by the virus in the Presidential Villa, we implore Nigerians to gird themselves and work together to remove this lawless, insensitive, and embarrassing government of the APC out of power by 2023." Enough with this shambles and depressing tale. Nigerians demand leaders who are compassionate, empathic, and above all, sensitive, who will make and enforce the law, not these unintentional power abusers."
