Tanko Yakasai, a founding member of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and a sage, has disclosed that Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), plans to compete for president in the 2023 general election.

He said the APC chairman visited him at his Abuja home on Wednesday to seek support for his presidential bid in the next election.

There have been rumors, rumours, and hints that Tinubu may be interested in the presidency, but the former Lagos State governor has yet to openly proclaim his ambition, despite the fact that he is facing many corruption charges.

"He (Tinubu) just came to see me," Yakasai explained, "but actually I have two of them (presidential hopefuls) who I have identified right from the start, and I made a pledge that whoever came to ask for my support first would be the person I would support." The first individual is Tinubu."

Tinubu also told Yakassai about his presidential ambitions and asked for his assistance throughout the campaign, according to Yakassai.

Furthermore, Yakasai stated that prospective candidates must first clear the difficulties of their respective political parties' primary elections "before we begin to compare them."

According to SaharaReporters, Tinubu spent nearly four months in hospitals in France, the United States, and the United Kingdom, where he underwent various operations, as part of his campaign for the presidency in 2023.

He was taken out of the nation to Paris, France, a few days before Christmas in 2020.

After a month away from Nigeria, the APC leader returned to the country on January 24, 2021.

On Thursday, June 10, he traveled to France for a medical checkup and was noticeably absent from President Muhammadu Buhari's one-day business visit to Lagos State.

"Tinubu is currently undergoing medical examinations in Paris, France. At the time, a key source told SaharaReporters that his health was worsening owing to his advanced age.

Tinubu was obliged to return to Nigeria on Tuesday, June 15, despite death rumors.

Tinubu was also hospitalized in Maryland, USA, in July 2021, according to the source.

The APC leader underwent another knee operation on August 9 at John Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

The APC leader, it was learned, left the United States on crutches for the United Kingdom a few days after his operation.

Tinubu sought the operation in Paris, France, but changed his mind due to rumors of his death, according to those close to him.

"Tinubu just underwent surgery for the second time at John Hopkins University in Maryland. In Chicago, he was joined by a well-known Nigerian physician. He wanted the operation in Paris, but as word of his death spread, he flew to Nigeria and proceeded to John Hopkins," one person claimed.

Another insider said, "He departed the US on crutches for the UK."

President Muhammadu Buhari paid Tinubu a visit in London in August, and the latter was spotted with a walking stick, corroborating SaharaReporters' report that he had a second operation in the United States.

Governors Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), and Kayode Fayemi all paid him visits in his London residence (Ekiti).
