HONESTLY SPEAKING, Ndi-Imo irrespective of our personal sentiment or political inclination, every progressive Nwa-Imo ought to be deeply rattled about the persistent hemorrhaging of our collective patrimony by just a few persons.
This few persons that have been recently described as a "Cabal of payroll fraudsters" who like a leach on a dog's skin, continues without care to suck it to death.
Sadly, this evil cabal have been part and parcel of Government for ages but their gluttonous apatite has enlarged beyond the carrying capacity of the state and as such the alarm by Owelle's Administration and followed by Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha and the present administration.
A worker indeed deserves his wages and any government that refuses to keep such a wage bill obligation is to be the worst and inhuman government.
However,it is the responsibility of the leadership and the led to forging a collective alliance towards ensuring that only the worker that truly work should earn his wages.
The recent revelation by His Excellency, Most Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodinma to the alarming fact that from a total number of 56,000 workers (both state and LGA) only 17, 000 persons were captured in the income tax otherwise known as Pay as you Earn(PAYE) .
More intriguing and painful is the fact that the nominal roll of Pensioners have stood at 30,000 for ten years now which naturally imply that there has been no retirements or death.
This is a sure pointer that very few but mindless individuals are feeding fat on our collective Commonwealth and at the expense of the common man who continues to bear the damaging brunt of such inhuman act.
This is where I take solace and wish to throw my unalloyed support for the courage of the present administration to fight this monster and to rescue Imo from the vicious grip of this ruthless cabal.
Going forward, It is my considered view that the Government should not just block this loopholes but should go a step further in ensuring that the so called cabal in whatever guise are unmasked and made to face the full wrath of the law and where necessary, the Government should strive to locate and confiscate/retrieve the proceeds from this nefarious act.
Like Kwame Nkrumah rightly submitted during the formative gathering that gave birth to the Organization of African Unity where he 1st charged Africans(Ndi-Imo) to Unite now or perish before further proclaiming thus "No sporadic act nor pious resolution can resolve our present problems. Nothing will be of avail, except the united act of a united Africa.
There is indeed enough for every mans need and not every mans greed and when Frantz Fanon described some bourgeoisie as a sort of little greedy caste, avid and voracious, with the mind of a huckster ,he was referring to the the "Payroll fraud cabal" whose activities have denied Ndi-Imo physical and infrastructural advancement. They must be stopped, fished out and punished before Imo bleed profusely to death.
