France, Hungary Battle For Three Points In Euro 2020

France will be aiming to maintain their impressive start in Euro 2020 as the team face Hungary at the Puskas Arena in a Group F tie today (Saturday).

France were thoroughly professional in their maiden game at UEFA Euro 2020, comfortably keeping out Germany throughout the course of the 90 minutes, although they were fortunate to win the game with the help of a Mats Hummels own goal. Les Bleus are now on an eight-game run without defeat, dating back to November 2020.

On the other hand, Hungary put in a valiant effort in their opening fixture at UEFA Euro 2020, admirably keeping the formidable Portugal side at bay for the most part. However, a late collapse proved to be their undoing, as three goals in quick succession condemned Marco Rossi and co. to an undeserving 3-0 defeat, ending their 11-game unbeaten run in the process.

Key Stats

France have won each of their last five meetings with Hungary after winning just three of the previous 17 match-ups (D2 L12). On Hungarian soil, France have beaten Hungary just once in eight games (D1 L6).

The defeat to Portugal on Matchday 1 means Hungary have now won only two of their nine games at UEFA Euro finals (D2 L5). The loss also ended Hungary’s nine-match unbeaten in competitive games (W6 D3).

France have won each of their last five matches in all competitions, doing so without letting in a goal. Les Bleus have not won six games in a row since June 2016, when the last two matches in that run were their first two outings at UEFA Euro 2016.
