Are you posting too much or too little on your Facebook, Instagram business page? Are you posting too much or too little on your Facebook, Instagram business page?
It’s hard to know how often you should post on your business page, right? Well, let me put your mind at ease and tell you that the experts can help us out with this one! Here are some guidelines from Hootsuite about how often your business page should post content.

These are just general guidelines, and every business will have its unique circumstances and strategy, but as a basic guide, these numbers should work pretty well!

The key to using social media is consistency

For social media, consistency is key. You want to make sure that you are posting regularly, but not too much. A good rule of thumb is to post 1-2 times per day on each platform. This will ensure that your followers see your content and are engaged with your brand. It also helps boost engagement when you post at different times throughout the day (for example 12 pm, 3 pm, and 7 pm).

If you don't have a lot of time for social media management, then consider outsourcing this task to a team like mine. We can help manage your Facebook Page and Instagram account so that you can focus on running your business!

When you make consistent posts, people remember them more

If you want people to remember your brand, you need to be consistent with your posts. That doesn't mean posting every day, but finding a happy medium. If you post too much, people will get annoyed and tune you out. But if you don't post enough, people will forget about you. Try to find a balance that works for you and stick to it.

Post when people are online

It's important to post when people are online and active. The best times to post on Facebook are between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The best times to post on Instagram are between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. If you want to reach people during their commute, the best time to post is between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. And if you want to reach people after work or school, the best time to post is between 7 p.m.

Post when the time zone works best for most people

When it comes to posting on your business page, timing is everything. You want to make sure you're posting when the majority of your audience is online and engaged. For example, if most of your followers are in the U.S., it would be best to post at 3-4 pm EST so they'll see that post throughout their day. And if most of your followers are from Brazil, that would be between 10 am-11 am BRT (their time zone). The key here is to make sure you're posting for your audience's convenience. If you have a tiny following and everyone lives in the same time zone, then any hour of the day will work just fine!

Not all posts have equal weight

Think about the last time you scrolled through Facebook or Instagram. How many posts did you stop to read? If you're like most people, you probably only stopped for a handful of them. A great way to figure out how often you should be posting is by asking yourself these questions: What type of content do I post and when do I post it? Which day of the week is my posts most successful and what times during that day are they popular? And finally, which hours during the day are my audience most active?

Considerations when publishing to your company's Facebook page

Is what you're posting or sharing authentic to you, your brand, and your company? Does it provide an accurate representation of your organisation? If your response is "no," then you should keep it where it is on the newsfeed. These days, there is already an excessive amount of noise on social media; you do not want to add to it. Always make use of your greatest resources so that your company can stand out from the competition.

Remember to consider the times of day at which you will publish throughout the day. If you publish many times a day, you need to ensure that there is enough time between each of those postings to avoid overwhelming the people that follow you.

In a word, it affects your page and your algorithms when your posts do not receive the quick love and engagement that they deserve.

When utilised correctly, social media can be an extremely effective marketing tool. Find the sweet spot for publishing on your business page, and then sit back and enjoy the results.
Happy posting!
